Dr. Courtney earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2026, ranking tenth in a class of 111 as of spring 2025 with a 3.86 grade point average. Before dental school came a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a concentration in kinesiology and Magna Cum Laude honors. During dental school Dr. Courtney also completed research comparing the flexural strength of a new bioactive packable composite against conventional materials.
Dr. Courtney is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and received both the Dr. and Mrs. Thomas N. Weems Scholarship and the Cecily W. Tipton Scholarship at the UTHSC College of Dentistry, alongside other professional affiliations. That commitment reaches well past the clinic. Dr. Courtney has volunteered with the Mid-South Mission of Mercy, ADA Give Kids a Smile, and Remote Area Medical, and spent sixteen years supporting families in rural Appalachia through Mission of Hope.

Dr. Lane Slack, DDS, is a General Dentist at Affordable Dentures & Implants, Lenoir City, TN. Dr. Slack provides restorative, functional, and esthetic care across a broad scope that includes extractions, socket grafting and ridge preservation, implant placement, endodontic therapy, and both fixed and removable prostheses.
Dr. Slack earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Tennessee Technological University. Before dental school came several years as a pharmacy technician, in a hospital setting and in a privately owned community pharmacy, work that built an early grounding in how medications affect the patients now sitting in the chair.
Since graduating, Dr. Slack has continued training in implant surgery through the Engel Institute, including implant placement on live patients and the vertical sinus lift approach, and in complex endodontic treatment. Two oral and maxillofacial surgery externships in 2026, at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, added time in sedation cases involving complex extractions, implant placement, and lateral sinus lifts.
While in dental school Dr. Slack served as an endodontic teaching assistant, helping faculty prepare second year students to perform root canal procedures before their clinical rotations. That instinct carries into volunteer work. Dr. Slack provides restorative, surgical, and hygienic care to underserved patients at the KIM Health Center in South Knoxville, and earlier volunteered with Remote Area Medical clinics.
